 María Isabel Parra.

Painting - Other media.

Maria Isabel tells us the following words about her work: Without mercy Nature can be terribly catastrophic, but also essential for the planet and society. In this way, I observe how culturally our vision of nature is quite restrictive in terms of protection of those elements that symbolically have always grown with civilization. And how today modernization and consumerism interfere, vanishing those symbols from their most pure states, destroying the essence of culture, destroying nature and putting in danger live species of all kinds including us.

Strokes and colors try to stand out the inner part of natural elements as a parallel with  essential things in life, as simple as a drop of water that falls on a leaf to feed its cells. As with most parts of my artworks, there is an intrinsic call to reflect about our lifestyle, to reflect about our choices to feed our body, our mind, our intellect and our choices to protect Life.

A parallel that goes beyond a drop of water. Thus if culture and nature are intimately united, we could think that the more we protect nature better societies,  with better life quality and more tolerant societies could emerge, right ? Is it just a dream ? I don't think so …
